China has reported increase in respiratory infections in the Northern China from mid-October 2023. The outbreak of respiratory infections involved small children as per world health organization. WHO asked China to report the pneumonia cases from Northern China.
Pro MED reported some undiagnosed cases of pneumonia in children in Northern China. Chinese officials from National Health Commission reported increase in respiratory infections among children in the press conference on 13 October.
As per WHO, Outbreak was first started in North China involving small children. Hospital from the outbreak area are overwhelmed with patients of pneumonia. The causative pathogen is not identified yet. The symptoms of the disease include high grade fever, cough and breathing difficulty. Severe cases require Hospitalisation.
WHO has formally requested detailed information regarding about latest outbreak of respiratory infections. This request is part of Who efforts to understand nature of the disease and its spread.
WHO has given advisory to the peoples residing in the outbreak area about precaution about disease like proper respiratory hygiene, report respiratory infection as early as possible.
WHO along with Chinese health authorities are investigating to find out the causative agent of the pneumonia in the children. Mycoplasma Pneumoniae, Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Influenza viruses are some causative agent which are responsible for pneumonia in the children.
Pneumonia is infection of the lungs which can spread from airborne mucus particles from one children to other children. Children suffer from high grade fever with cough along with breathing difficulty. Some children may face loss of appetite. Children having severe infection along with breathing difficulty requires hospitalisation.
Some Hygiene you must tell to your child to avoid such kind of infections like hand washing 3-4 times a day as it washes out pathogens from hands and protect child from acquiring infections. Respiratory hygiene which includes use of mask which protects from airborne pathogen to directly get inhaled. Drinking plenty of water is essential to keep the babys body hydrated. If Child suffering severely from the respiratory infection then you should consult your healthcare provider.
